We love any excuse to celebrate. Surrounded by the selection of cheese, wine, beer, and more that we offer, how could we not? It’s Tuesday? Break out the Thomasville Tomme. Sun shining makes us smile? Let’s have a sumptuous stout.
The good food and drink we surround ourselves with, savor, and appreciate bringing to others are dependent on the health of our planet. With our commitment to supporting sustainable businesses, we’ve learned a lot about the little things we can do that add up to make a big impact.
This Earth Day, we’re highlighting our Hen Bucket. If you’ve never heard of one, it’s a specific type of food waste disposal. In our case, one that goes straight to the hens that lay the eggs that we use for Anona Bakery’s iconic quiche. This cycle reduces the waste we create as a business, provides high-quality nutrients to the hens, and promotes the generation of delicious eggs you enjoy!
It’s a great complement or alternative to composting and can be fun. Watching hens appreciate what you’ve saved from the garbage puts refreshes the old adage, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” in our mind. What else can we reconsider? What are we overlooking in our waste that could be repurposed for something new and exciting? For our part, we’re always looking for new ways to take the steps to sustainability to preserve this beautiful planet (and its amazing cheeses).
